One of the most useful Kindle Paperwhite features is the built-in dictionary. The dictionary is easy to access and makes it swift and painless to find the definition of an unknown word. To display a dictionary definition of a word, long-tap (that is, tap and hold) a word. The selected word is highlighted as white. Once you’ve found your dictionary, you’ll need to purchase it and it’ll take a minute or two to download onto your Kindle. Another great thing about Kindle is that their e-books are usually cheaper than a paper or hardback version of the same book.

Hi all,I'm a big fan of reading foreign languages on the Kindle with the aid of the on-device dictionary, as this lets you quickly look up the definition of unknown words without breaking your flow. However, until now there haven't been any Arabic-English dictionaries for Kindle that I know of. I decided to do something about it, and I've therefore put together a Kindle Arabic-English dictionary based on the Buckwalter corpus. At this point, it is time to bring on more users to beta test the dictionary.
I'm very interested in feedback on how the dictionary works for you, and in particular if you're using something other than a Kindle Paperwhite 3. Looks great so far, thanks for doing this. As you've noted, the font is pretty terrible, but the fix noted seemed to work. It does seem that the more complex the word the less likely it is to be found in the dictionary, which is to be expected.I compared a children's book to a novel and while the dictionary picked up everything in the children's book, the novel only picked up around 60% of the words I chose.

Totally random sample so that's a bogus number but take it as you will. I'll pop back with some more comments after I've had a proper run through. Thanks again!. I tried with the 'send to kindle' explorer addon, which I guess does the same as the email option. However, I can't seem to get it to work: when I press a word and try to change dictionary, this new dictionary does not show up.I also tried copying the file to /sdcard/Android/data/com.amazon.kindle.
In that case, it shows up under the list of dictionaries I can choose from, but it complains it's not yet fully downloaded. If somebody has any success with this on Android, I'd like to know:-).
